It is therefore essential that all sectors of the economy, using carbon intense energy sources, reduce their carbon emissions to avoid the worst effects. By transitioning away from an economy based on fossil fuels to one based on renewable energy, carbon emissions will reduce, making cleaner energy a vital role in the fight against climate change. The good news is that 2020 was a record-breaking year for renewable energy, showing the shift is escalating.
